Interior Designer Washington helps save an unused living room

This Capitol Hill living room was stuffed with antiques, pictures, and pottery.  The client said her family couldn't relax there and rarely used the room.  However, she wanted to keep all the antiques she had inherited and loved.  She also needed advice on whether to get new armchairs or use those she had.  Interior designer Washington to the rescue!

In our first session, this long, narrow living room was rearranged to include a conversation area, a game area and a workspace.  The accessories were organized and displayed to better advantage.  In our second session, we selected a fabric to reupholster the armchairs, which were worn but the right size for the room.

Same Day Decor -- an interior designer Washington clients can rely on for stylish solutions to decorating problems both large and small.

BEFORE:  An array of seating, but not a place you'd want to sit for long.

AFTER:  A restful room with a good conversation area that the owners now enjoy.

BEFORE:  This fireplace was overwhelmed by the large painting above the mantle and the walls on either side felt unbalanced.

AFTER:  This art is more balanced and in proportion to the fireplace.

BEFORE:  The desk isn't used except to hold accessories.  The armchairs and the table on the left are lost in the mix.

AFTER: The desk is cleared and given a chair so it can be used.  The arm chairs are moved to the conversation area and the game table is placed here to balance the settee on the other side of the fireplace.  The table goes near the front door for keys and mail.
